NAOMI TODD IS A SESSION TRUMPET PLAYER, VOCALIST, MUSICAL DIRECTOR, ARRANGER, COMPOSER, ORCHESTRATOR, COPYIST AND EDUCATOR BASED IN LIVERPOOL, UK.
Naomi grew up in the North East of England, playing in regional brass bands, wind bands and jazz ensembles from a young age. During her teens, she became Musical Director and Conductor of her college orchestra and a function band based in the area, also arranging and composing music for both projects. She moved on to study Music at Sir Paul McCartney’s prestigious Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts (LIPA) and became the Assistant Musical Director of The LIPA Big Band as well as Musical Supervisor on multiple LIPA musical theatre cabaret shows. Here, she also began to freelance as an arranger and orchestrator for local songwriters as well as a session trumpet player and backing vocalist for North West based artists and function bands alongside her studies. Since graduating from LIPA in 2018 with a 1st Class Honours degree in Music, Naomi has gone on to arrange and compose for worldwide songwriters, producers and musical theatre productions along with ensembles ranging in size from wind orchestras, big bands and brass bands to vocal groups and string sections; Her most prestigious work to date being co-arranger, co-orchestrator, formatter and copyist for Warner Spain signed artist Jacobo Serra.
Naomi is currently a Visiting Professional at LIPA on the BA(Hons) Music, BA(Hons) Acting (Musicianship) and Foundation Certificate in Popular Music & Music Technology courses; lecturing in music theory, aural skills and composition, as well as teaching practical music workshops across schools and colleges in and around Liverpool as part of LIPA’s Widening Participation department. She also offers online and face-to-face private tuition in music theory, aural skills, composition and arranging skills and brass instrumental technique.
Naomi’s performance career has enabled her to travel to numerous cities across Spain, Luxembourg, Germany and Belgium, as well as distinguished venues in the UK. She has performed in the The Roundhouse, Durham Cathedral, Liverpool Philharmonic, Durham Gala Theatre, The Sage Gateshead, Durham Brass Festival, Boomtown Fair Festival, Great North Jazz Festival along with various Liverpool venues. Naomi has also performed/recorded alongside artists such as Jacobo Serra, Greg Abate, Abram Wilson, Keith Loftis, Jon Faddis, El Twanguero, The Soul Rebels Brass Band, Stooges Brass Band and Hackney Colliery Band, to name a few. Naomi’s experience in theatre is also extensive, having played on productions of ‘The Wizard of Oz’, ‘Annie’, ‘Fame’, ‘Mack & Mabel’, ‘Stop The World, I Want To Get Off’ and ‘Made In Dagenham’. She has also has credits as a Musical Supervisor, Arranger and Orchestrator on several musical theatre cabaret shows including LIPA’s ‘BA In Acting?: A Cabaret’ and ‘Seven Deadly Sins’ alongside touring and cruise hit show 'The Mersey Boys'. In addition to her session career, Naomi is a regular amongst the North West function circuit - being a member of Liverpool's 9 piece New Orleans-style Brass & Percussion band: Hardcore Hornography, a Pop & Soul Acoustic Duo and the prestigious Danny Miller Big Band - as well as a frequent player with wedding bands such as LP Collective, New Power Soul Club and Flynn & Tonics.
Naomi also freelances in the socials and video content creation industry, and offers a wide range of visual content creation and video editing services from promotional stills, graphics, music video shoots, vlogs and interview-style videos.
